Mitchell, NE — Corbin Schleicher has received a scholarship from the Lyons Aviation Foundation in support of his pursuit of a Private Pilot License, with training planned at Western Nebraska Regional Airport (KBFF).
Corbin grew up in a rural community where aviation isn’t a novelty — it’s a lifeline. With an uncle who flies as a fixed-wing medical pilot, he has seen firsthand how aviation connects rural areas to the resources and care they depend on. That example took root early, and Corbin has been building toward a future flying ever since.
Over the past three years he has been active in Gering High School’s aviation program, and volunteering at KBFF, and community events through the EAA Young Eagles program, where he also earned his drone certification.
Corbin is working hard to meet his aviation goals while remaining an accomplished student and athlete. He is captain of his varsity golf team, a nine-year veteran of 4H Shooting Sports, and a Junior Dragster competitor. For the past three years he has also run his own mobile car detailing business — funding his future flight training.
He is currently working toward his Private Pilot License, with the longer-term goal of following his uncle’s example, flying in medical transport or a similar role that gives back to the rural communities he calls home.
The Lyons Aviation Foundation is proud to support Corbin and looks forward to watching him achieve the goals he has already started.

About The Lyons Aviation Foundation:
The Lyons Aviation Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non profit private foundation that exists to support and encourage the next generation of pilots and aviators through offering financial scholarships to deserving young persons who are pursuing their Private Pilot Certificate. The Lyons family has been involved in and maintained a history of aviation-related careers for over 67 years. The Lyons Aviation Foundation story started with Rolf C. Lyons, when he entered military service at the age of 17, enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1955, with his sons later following in his footsteps. This foundation was born out of a desire to give back to the aviation community and the future pilots, mechanics, and engineers working in the field by providing an opportunity to those that might not otherwise have the means to pursue aviation as a career path. This foundation is a living tribute to a family story and its ties to aviation, military service, and one another. More information can be found at www.lyonsaviation.org.
